Legal translation involves contracts, statutes, judgments and other specialised documents, which need to be translated by a specialised professional translators.
As each legal system is different, I aim to find an equivalent word, phrase, and concept in the target language at all times. Still, there is rarely an exact correspondent term in legal translations. Over many years, I researched appropriate terminology and read texts in English and Portuguese related to the same subject; with this I built a considerable glossary of corresponding terms and concepts. I aim to write translations that sound natural to the target-reader. The last part of the process is a final revision of the translated text to make sure spelling, grammar and style are correct.
If you need a certified translation of your legal text, I can provide a translator’s certification, as well as further certification with a solicitor or notary public and legalisation (apostille).
